FRANKFORT, Ky. – Today, Kentucky Democratic Party (KDP) Chair Colmon Elridge released the following statement condemning the Trump administration’s plan to hand another $20 billion to Argentina while firing thousands of federal workers and forcing more to work without pay:

“In week three of his fourth government shutdown, while millions of American families are facing rising costs of living and struggling to pay their bills, President Trump is choosing to inflict even more pain and hardship by firing thousands of hardworking Americans. Instead of negotiating with Democrats — and members of his own party — to lower health care costs and reopen the government, he’s choosing to give a $40 billion gift to Argentina, the country raking in soybean sales that — without Trump’s tariffs — would have gone to Kentucky farmers. While our farmers are talking about foreclosure, people are working without pay, and health care costs are set to triple, Trump and the GOP are continuing to choose themselves over the needs of everyday Kentuckians and Americans.  And we all deserve better.”
