FRANKFORT, Ky. – Today, the Kentucky Democratic Party (KDP) released the following statement congratulating Governor Andy Beshear as he begins his term as Chair of the Democratic Governors Association (DGA). He is serving alongside Governor Gretchen Whitmer, who was elected Vice Chair at the DGA's Annual Meeting in Phoenix, Arizona this weekend:

"There is no one better suited to lead Democrats into 2026 than Governor Beshear," said KDP Chair Colmon Elridge. "Under his leadership, our Commonwealth has seen record economic development investments, job creation and expanded health care access, improving the quality of life for tens of thousands of Kentuckians.  His common sense and compassionate approach has made him the most popular Democratic Governor in the county and created a national model for Democrats to win in red states.

“With 36 gubernatorial elections on the ballot in 2026, Gov. Beshear, together with Governor Whitmer, will help expand Democratic margins in governors’ offices across the county, proving once again that Democratic governors will do what Republicans can’t: govern well."
