KDP Statement Condemning Trump Administration for Taking Addiction Recovery Funds from Kentucky

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Today, Kentucky Democratic Party (KDP) Chair Colmon Elridge released the following statement condemning the Trump administration for snatching $2 billion in promised grant money from mental health and addiction recovery programs, including millions from Kentucky, before reversing course amid pressure from congressional Democrats:

“Nearly all Kentuckians know someone who is alive today because of the programs President Trump’s administration tried to gut overnight. Kentucky didn’t get three consecutive years of decreasing overdose death rates by going back and forth on whether Kentucky lives are worth fighting for — something the president’s team is clearly still undecided on.”
