FRANKFORT, Ky. – Today, 60 days after President Trump took the United States to war with Iran, Kentucky Democratic Party (KDP) Chair Colmon Elridge released the following statement:

“Two months ago, President Trump said his Iran war would last just a few days. A month after that, he said it was ‘nearing completion.’ Now, after weeks of American families bearing the brunt of war-induced inflation and soaring gas prices, his administration wants billions more taxpayer dollars to fund more fighting — with no exit strategy.

“Republicans in Congress should, for once, hold Trump accountable for his pledge to end ‘forever wars,’ ‘lower costs on day one’ and ‘make America great again’ by voting to end this conflict and turning their focus to easing the economic hardship they’ve caused American families.”

Consequences of Trump’s war include Kentuckians paying 45% more for gas and 70% of all farmers saying they can’t afford the fertilizer they need to get through the year.
