KDP Statement on 60th Anniversary of the Voting Rights Act

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Today, Kentucky Democratic Party (KDP) Chair Colmon Elridge released the following statement on the struggles Kentucky families face this back-to-school season as a direct result of Republican cruelty and incompetence, including costly tariffs and cuts that will strip students of the resources they need to thrive in class:

"Because of incompetent and cruel Republican leadership, Kentucky families are paying more to send kids to schools equipped with less. Prices on essential school supplies are skyrocketing thanks to the tariff-induced Trump Tax, and extreme cuts from the GOP’s federal budget will force more students to learn while hungry, homeless and without health care. Like their counterparts in the General Assembly — whose failure to fully fund public education has created a multi-million dollar shortfall for schools across the Commonwealth — it's clear Kentucky's Congressional Republicans care more about serving their own political interests than serving the best interests of Kentucky’s kids.”
