KDP Statement on Governor Beshear’s State of the Commonwealth Address

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Today, Kentucky Democratic Party (KDP) Chair Colmon Elridge released the following statement on Governor Beshear’s State of the Commonwealth and Budget Address:

“Tonight, Governor Beshear outlined a vision for restoring not just the American Dream but for restoring hope. On the heels of four of Kentucky’s best years on record for job creation, his budget calls on lawmakers to set our Commonwealth up for long-term success by investing in our people, starting with our children through the funding of Pre-K for All.

“As federal cuts backed by Kentucky Republicans threaten to undo progress made under the Beshear-Coleman administration, including three consecutive years of decreasing overdose deaths, the creation of hospitals and health care facilities outside of big cities and a robust economy that continued to grow even as tariffs and trade wars rocked the rest of the country, the General Assembly has a chance to join Gov. Beshear in rejecting partisan cruelty. We call on leaders in Frankfort to join him in embracing a fiscally responsible plan for our Commonwealth, one where no child grows up hungry, homeless or without access to the health care and the early education they need to thrive.
