KDP Statement on Health Insurance Premium Hikes and Government Shutdown

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Today, Kentucky Democratic Party (KDP) Chair Colmon Elridge released the following statement on President Trump’s looming government shutdown, the result of his cruel health care agenda, leadership failures and demands for blind loyalty within the Republican Party:

“Instead of doing anything to prevent the looming shutdown or spike in health care premiums, President Trump spent his weekend posting AI videos about magical healing beds. He refused to meet with Democrats until yesterday, and his Speaker of the House told Republicans to leave Capitol Hill without a deal. Trump is barreling toward a shutdown because he refuses to work with Democrats to keep Americans’ health insurance premiums from skyrocketing, and he is threatening to fire thousands of federal workers simply because Congress will not vote his way."
