NELSON COUNTY, Ky. – Today, the first day of the Kentucky Bourbon Festival in Nelson County, Kentucky Democratic Party Chair Colmon Elridge released the following statement on challenges Kentucky’s signature industry faces as a direct result of President Trump’s chaotic trade wars and the Kentucky Republicans afraid to hold him accountable for wrecking the economy:

“Kentucky’s bourbon industry is a $9 billion boon to  our Commonwealth. Unfortunately, one man’s reckless tariffs and totally unnecessary trade wars are forcing industry giants and small businesses alike to scale back and lay off workers. Already distillers have missed out on $19 million in sales from Canada alone — money that could have gone toward expanding operations, creating jobs and enriching Kentucky families."
