KDP Statement on Kentucky GOP’s Continued War on Public Education

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Today, Kentucky Democratic Party (KDP) Chair Colmon Elridge released the following statement on House Bill 1, the Republican Party of Kentucky’s latest attempt to divert public dollars to unaccountable private schools:

“Kentucky Republicans must end their unconstitutional attacks on public schools. Today, just hours after the Kentucky Supreme Court struck down one of the GOP’s many attempts to let unaccountable private schools spend your tax dollars, House leaders named a new bill to do so their number one priority this session.

“This is not only an insult to Kentucky families getting priced out of health care and basic necessities — it’s further proof that the Republican Party would rather build exclusive private schools for the wealthiest families than work with Democrats to improve schools serving nearly all Kentucky children.”
