FRANKFORT, Ky. – Today, in light of a new report on January’s massive job cuts and slowing job growth, Kentucky Democratic Party (KDP) Chair Colmon Elridge released a statement urging Republicans in Kentucky’s General Assembly to address the ongoing cost-of-living crisis perpetuated by President Trump and congressional Republicans.

The latest report shows January job cuts hit their highest level since 2009, and hiring has hit its worst point since tracking began.

“While Republicans in our General Assembly may have time to talk about expanding indoor smoking and chicken housing, Kentucky’s working families do not,” said Chair Elridge. “Governor Beshear and legislative Democrats can't be the only people working to stop Trump’s economic policies from taking jobs from our people, especially in rural areas. It’s past time for Republicans to put their vanity projects away and start working with Democrats to put roofs over heads, food on tables and workers in good-paying positions.”
