KDP Statement on President Trump’s $1.3 Trillion Vote-Buying Scheme
September 10, 2026 · Kentucky Democratic Party
FRANKFORT, Ky. – Today, in response to President Trump’s egregious schemes to buy America’s votes and restrict citizen access to the ballot, Kentucky Democratic Party (KDP) Chair Colmon Elridge released the following statement:
“Americans know President Trump and the GOP are responsible for the Iran War, tariffs, and extreme budget cuts driving up costs for everyone. As Trump panics about his plummeting approval ratings, he is resorting to his usual tactics: bullying, bribes and broken promises.
“The absurd $1.3 trillion scheme announced last night is a desperate attempt by the president to buy votes. At the same time, he is relentlessly pursuing policies to block citizens from the ballot, including the SAVE Act and sweeping restrictions on mail-in voting — despite voting by mail himself.
“Kentucky is ready for serious Democratic leaders who will step up and be the adults in the room. Families don’t have to settle for Republicans who would rather use dirty tricks to rig the system than listen to voters and deliver results.”
