KDP Statement on President Trump’s Cruel Firing of Federal Workers

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Today, as we approach two full weeks of Republicans refusing to negotiate on reopening the government and preventing a spike in health care costs, Kentucky Democratic Party (KDP) Chair Colmon Elridge released the following statement denouncing President Trump’s latest attempt to get what he wants by hurting working people:

“Nearly two weeks after his fourth shutdown began, President Trump is trying to break the government instead of reopening it. As Democrats fight for affordable and accessible health care for every American family, Trump still refuses to come to the negotiating table, instead choosing to fire thousands of hardworking federal employees. These firings are a choice by the Trump administration — a choice to use federal employees as negotiating tools, inflicting pain and uncertainty on Kentucky families. Working Americans deserve respect. Unfortunately, they won’t get it from the Trump administration.”
