FRANKFORT, Ky. – Today, Kentucky Democratic Party (KDP) Chair Colmon Elridge released the following statement on President Trump’s first six months in office, during which he launched a historic attack on rural health care, stifled small businesses with senseless, ongoing trade wars and destroyed programs Kentuckians rely on to build better lives:

“Despite campaign promises to lower costs and make life more affordable ‘on day one,’ President Trump has spent the past six months creating economic chaos, leaving working families uncertain about their futures. His tariffs have led to higher costs, his school funding freezes have taken resources from Kentucky kids and his cuts to the VA and Social Security Administration mean that veterans and seniors will be waiting longer for the help they need.  And now, with Congress’ blessing, he’s on track to kick a record number of Kentuckians off Medicaid, putting 35 rural hospitals and tens of thousands of jobs at risk.

“Unlike the Kentucky Republicans who’ve proven they’re too cowardly and  too cruel to stand up and protect their constituents, Democrats will always put Kentuckians first — even if the President and his Party won’t.”
