KDP Statement on Trump’s Insulting Farmer Bailout Proposal

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Today, Kentucky Democratic Party (KDP) Chair Colmon Elridge released the following statement on President Trump’s proposal to bail out farmers whose livelihoods and operations are suffering as a direct result of Trump’s reckless trade wars and tariffs:

“Trump’s economic chaos, unpredictable tariffs and trade wars have resulted in Kentucky farmers shutting down operations, laying off workers and struggling to sell their crops. After ignoring their cries for help and spending billions to bail out their foreign competitors, Trump is now proposing a bailout from his very own policies, one that is less than half the size of what he handed Argentina.

“The bailout numbers don’t lie: Kentucky farmers, families and their livelihoods aren’t a priority for Trump and the GOP.”
