FRANKFORT, Ky. – Today, in light of President Trump’s illegal attempt to rip food support from nearly 600,000 hungry Kentuckians, the Kentucky Democratic Party (KDP) is launching a statewide food drive. Democrats — elected officials, candidates and county party members — will be collecting donations throughout the week, culminating in a Statewide Charitable Day of Action on November 8 to support families the GOP is willing to let starve:
“A judge did not have to force Governor Beshear to care about whether children are going to bed hungry,” said KDP Chair Colmon Elridge. “The same is true for Kentucky Democrats, who will spend the next week doing what Congressional Republicans refuse to do: take action to feed families. Under Trump’s leadership, Kentucky’s GOP congressmen voted to shrink benefits for all Kentucky families on SNAP and kick 135,000 people off the program. It’s no surprise they were cheering on his illegal attempt to snatch even more food from our neighbors instead of doing anything to address the hunger crisis they created.”
