FRANKFORT, Ky. – Today, as we enter week four of President Trump’s fourth government shutdown, Kentucky Democratic Party (KDP) Chair Colmon Elridge released the following statement demanding that Republicans in Kentucky’s Congressional Delegation get back to work and stop letting Trump waste time and taxpayer dollars while Kentuckians are going hungry:

“With Kentucky families days away from running out of federal food support, President Trump is rewarding Congressional Republicans for doing nothing about it. Yesterday, while they feasted in the Rose Garden to the sound of demolition crews ripping up the White House for a Trump vanity project, ordinary Americans worked without pay. The man who promised to put America first is able to negotiate $40 billion in bailouts for Argentina, but is unwilling to address skyrocketing health insurance costs to keep the federal government open and provide food to hungry Americans. Real leaders, like Governor Beshear, are doing everything they can to put meals on tables until the GOP ends this cruelty and starts negotiating."
