FRANKFORT, Ky. – In case you missed it, food banks and nonprofits across the Commonwealth are sorting thousands of pounds in donations from Kentucky Democrats. As part of a Kentucky Democratic Party (KDP) Statewide Charitable Day of Action, county parties organized dozens of food drives Saturday for Kentuckians left without food in the Republican cost-of-living crisis.

“We have Kentucky public schools doing more than the most powerful government in the world to make sure people aren’t going hungry,” said Lt. Governor Jacqueline Coleman at a food drive in Lexington. “The Trump administration continues to fail 600,000 Kentuckians on SNAP, along with countless Kentucky farmers and grocers losing business because families can’t afford to buy food.”

“Our neighbors are missing meals because of tariff-induced price hikes, GOP-backed cuts to food support and one man’s decision to shut down SNAP — illegally — for the first time in U.S. history,” said KDP Chair Colmon Elridge. “While the Trump administration was ordering states to take grocery money away from hungry families, Kentucky Democrats were packing up boxes of food. It’s clear which party is truly putting working people first.”
