KDP Statement on 8 Months of President Trump’s Iran War and War-Induced Price Hikes
October 28, 2026 · Kentucky Democratic Party
FRANKFORT, Ky. – Eight months ago today, President Trump unilaterally launched a war against Iran, involving the United States in yet another interminable conflict in the Middle East and kicking off a growing wave of price hikes on gas, energy and groceries. Kentucky Democratic Party (KDP) Chair Colmon Elridge released the following statement:
“Trump’s Iran War has led to the deaths of 21 U.S. service members, including 2 Kentuckians, while causing a record-breaking gas crisis, draining $2,000 from every Kentuckian’s household budget, and costing Kentucky farmers $39 million extra on diesel.
“Despite that, Republicans have voted 6 times to let Trump continue to wage this costly war with zero oversight.
“We urge Kentuckians to hold the GOP accountable for these chaotic and weak decisions by voting for Democrats, who will work to lower prices instead of writing blank checks for a multi-billion-dollar war that the president has no plan to end.”
