KDP Statement on Kentucky Democrats Out-Registering Republicans
October 13, 2026 · Kentucky Democratic Party
FRANKFORT, Ky. – Today, Kentucky Democrats are recognizing a historic voter registration milestone. New numbers from the State Board of Elections confirm that, for the second consecutive time this year, Democrats out-registered Republicans in Kentucky. Final tallies from September 30 to October 5 show Democrats registered 2,339 voters — more than double the Republican Party’s 1,122 new registrations.
In response to the historic shift, Kentucky Democratic Party (KDP) Chair Colmon Elridge released the following statement:
“Republicans have delivered soaring inflation and a stalled economy and have promised to pursue ‘exactly’ the same agenda again, causing grocery, gas and healthcare costs to skyrocket. Voters rightfully see Democrats as the party fighting to lower costs and strengthen the American Dream. Registration numbers reflect that, and so will results on Election Day.”
