KDP Statement on Record-High Diesel Costs

September 9, 2026 · Kentucky Democratic Party

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Today, with diesel costs at an all-time high, the price of oil hitting $100 per barrel, and a Brown University report showing Americans have spent $100 billion extra on energy because of President Trump’s Iran War, Kentucky Democratic Party (KDP) Chair Colmon Elridge released the following statement:

“Six months in, Trump’s forever war in Iran is forcing Kentucky farmers, fire departments and small businesses to cut back and rethink long-term plans. Diesel prices have literally never been higher, and all Americans are paying the price through war-induced inflation.

“From day one, Democrats have been fighting for peace, stability and lower costs. Unfortunately Republicans like Ralph Alvarado and Andy Barr are doing more to cover up their Trump endorsements than they are to help Kentuckians get through this completely preventable pain.”
